Hoggin Self-Binding Gravel is a golden-brown mix graded from 10mm down to dust. Once laid and compacted, the fines bind the stone into a firm, natural-looking surface — the classic finish for country paths, larger walkways and heritage gardens, without the loose feel of ordinary gravel.

  • Best for: Paths and larger walkways
  • Pack sizes: Jumbo bulk bag (approx 1,000kg), standard bulk bag (approx 750kg), midi bulk bag (approx 500kg), or 25kg handy bags in packs of 5, 10, 20 or 40
  • Coverage: Approx 10m² per tonne at a compacted depth of 50mm (2in)
  • Laying: Must be laid and compacted in dry conditions; not suitable for laying on concrete

FAQs

How much will I need?

Work out the volume of your area (length × width × depth in metres) and allow roughly 1.6–1.8 tonnes per cubic metre, depending on the material and how firmly it's compacted. Check the Coverage line in the product details where given, and round up rather than down so you're not left short.

How should it be laid?

Follow the Laying guidance in the product details. As a rule, sub-base and binding materials should be laid in layers on a firm, prepared base and compacted with a plate compactor, while drainage stone should be laid loose so water can pass through.

Which bag size should I choose?

Bulk bags are the most economical way to buy for larger jobs. 25kg handy bags (where offered) are ideal for smaller jobs, or if access is tight and the material needs carrying through the house or over a wall.
