About Oak & Outdoor

The British garden deserves better.

That's not a marketing line. It's the reason this business exists.

It started with a bench. Not a particularly expensive one — about £280, bought online from one of those broad catalogue retailers that sell everything from mattresses to mulch. It arrived flat-packed, assembled without too much trouble, and looked perfectly respectable on the patio.

For about eighteen months.

By the second autumn it was showing its age. By the third spring it was embarrassing. The timber had lifted where the treatment had never really penetrated. One of the armrests had developed a wobble that no amount of tightening would fix. It wasn't broken, exactly — it just looked tired. Defeated. Like something that had been made to a price rather than made to last.

So we did what most people do. We went looking for a replacement.

What we found was more of the same. Page after page of outdoor furniture and garden products that looked attractive in a lifestyle photograph and told you almost nothing about what they were made of, who made them, or whether they would still be standing in five years. No supplier names. No transparency. No real story behind any of it. Just products, prices, and a promise of free delivery.

We knew there was better out there. We'd worked in ecommerce long enough to know the difference between a retailer that curates and a retailer that catalogues. We'd seen how a proper brand story changes the way a customer feels about a purchase. And we'd spent enough time looking at the outdoor living market to know that the quality existed across furniture, wellness, and garden products — it just wasn't being sold properly online.

So we decided to do it ourselves.

Who we are

Oak & Outdoor is a family business, launched in 2026 and based in the UK. We are not a marketplace. We are not a catalogue. We are a specialist — outdoor living is our only world, chosen deliberately, with a clear point of view about what belongs in a British garden and what doesn't.

We sell exclusively online at oakandoutdoor.co.uk, and we work exclusively with UK trade suppliers whose products we would put in our own garden. Every supplier relationship we build is a direct one — a real conversation, a named contact, a written agreement. Not a platform dependency.

Our background is ecommerce. We understand how online retail works — the technology, the marketing, the customer journey, the things that make a good experience and the things that quietly undermine trust. That knowledge is what we bring to a category that has, frankly, been underserved online for too long.

What we cover

Oak & Outdoor covers the full spectrum of outdoor living — not just furniture.

Garden furniture — dining tables, seating, benches, bistro sets, and garden structures sourced from UK manufacturers who build to last through the British climate. FSC-certified timber, 10-year rot guarantees, and real supplier provenance on every product page.

Outdoor wellness — saunas, hot tubs, cold plunge pools, and spa products for gardens that are genuinely lived in year-round. The British garden is no longer just a summer space — and the products we carry reflect that.

Garden accessories — the finishing touches that complete an outdoor space. Covers, cushions, lighting, planters, and everything else that belongs outside.

Everything we sell connects to the same idea: your outdoor space is an extension of your home, and it deserves to be treated that way.

How we choose what we sell

Every product on Oak & Outdoor has cleared the same bar before it gets listed.

The supplier must be credible. We want to know who made the product, where, and how. We want a name, a track record, and a story worth telling.

The materials must be honest. FSC or PEFC certification on timber is a baseline requirement, not a marketing bonus. For wellness products, we look for the same rigour — quality construction, meaningful warranties, and suppliers who stand behind what they make.

The quality must hold up. Not in a showroom. Not in a photograph. In a British garden, through a British winter, used by a real family for a decade. That's the test.

The guarantee must mean something. A 10-year rot guarantee on timber furniture is our benchmark. The equivalent standard applies to every category we sell.

What we promise you

We will tell you who made what you're buying. We will tell you what it's made of and where those materials came from. We will be honest about delivery timelines. We will respond to any question or problem within four business hours because we are a small business and your experience is our reputation.

We will never list a product we wouldn't buy ourselves. We will never make a claim about a product we can't back up. And we will never treat a customer complaint as an inconvenience — because we know from our own rotten bench that the frustration of a poor product is entirely real, and entirely avoidable.
