The Holkham is a traditional timber greenhouse that gives keen gardeners a bright, sheltered space to grow, propagate and potter all year round. Built from Shire’s quality joinery with attractive low timber side panels, a finial-and-cresting roof detail and toughened glass throughout, it looks as good as it performs — available here in four sizes to suit plots large and small.

Does the Holkham come with a floor?

No — like most greenhouses the Holkham has no floor. It sits on the pressure-treated base rail that's included, so you can stand it on a firm, level base such as paving, concrete or a prepared gravel pad.

Is the glass safe?

Yes. The Holkham is glazed throughout with toughened safety glass, which is far stronger than standard horticultural glass and much safer if it's ever knocked.

How does ventilation work?

Each model has one or more opening roof lights, and a Bayliss automatic opener is supplied for every opening vent. These open and close on their own as the temperature rises and falls, so your plants stay ventilated without you having to be there.

Does it need treating?

It arrives dip-treated with a base-coat preservative. Once built, apply a top-coat preservative in your chosen colour and re-treat every couple of years to keep it protected.
