FAQs

Can this rug be left outside permanently?

Yes, it handles moisture, spills and sunlight. Being lightweight it is also easy to roll away over winter, which will extend its life considerably.

What does reversible mean in practice?

Both faces are finished and usable, so you get two looks from one rug and can flip it to even out wear. Clean and dry both sides when washing.

What size do I need?

For a dining set, allow at least 60cm beyond the table edge on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. For a corner sofa or lounge set, the rug should sit under the front legs of every seat at minimum. For a bistro set or balcony, a smaller rug that frames the table usually looks better than one filling the whole floor.

Will it blow away in the wind?

At 445 gr/m² this is a light rug, and on an exposed patio or balcony it can lift in strong wind. Weighting the corners with furniture or using outdoor rug grippers solves it. If your space is very exposed, the heavier Nature or Magic ranges may suit better.

This is the black and beige geometric — how does it differ from the others?

Urban comes as two-tone geometrics in black and beige, blue and beige, and terra and beige, and as plain single colours in grey, beige, blue, terra, turquoise and anthracite. This is the black and beige, the highest-contrast of the two-tone patterns. See them all in our outdoor rugs collection.

Care & Maintenance

This is a lightweight reversible flatweave built for outdoor use. It does not absorb water, so it will not rot or go mouldy the way a natural fibre rug would, and the weave lets rain pass straight through rather than pooling on the surface.

Routine cleaning

Shake or brush off loose dirt, leaves and grit regularly — grit is what wears a flatweave down over time, not rain. For anything more, hose it down and let it drain. A soft brush with warm water and mild washing-up liquid will lift most marks. Rinse thoroughly so no soap residue is left behind. Because the rug is reversible, clean and dry both faces — the underside sees just as much use if you flip it.

Drying

At 445 gr/m² this rug is light and dries quickly. Lay flat or hang over a rail until completely dry on both sides before putting it back down.

What to avoid

No bleach, no solvent cleaners, no pressure washers at close range — all three can damage the fibres or lift the weave. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Securing it in wind

Lightweight rugs can lift in strong wind on an exposed patio or balcony. Weight the corners with furniture or use outdoor rug grippers if this is an issue where you are.

Through the seasons

Lift the rug periodically and let the surface underneath dry out, particularly on decking. In autumn, clear leaves promptly rather than letting them sit and stain. The light weight makes this an easy rug to roll away over winter, which will extend its life considerably.

A note on fading

The colours resist sunlight but are not UV proof. A rug in full unbroken sun will lighten gradually over several seasons. Turning it end to end once or twice a year evens out both fading and wear.
