Who are Aura Alcove Design?

Why is teak considered a premium outdoor material?

Teak is naturally rich in oils and resins that make it highly resistant to moisture, rot, and insects — without the need for chemical treatment. It is used in boat-building and outdoor furniture for exactly this reason. It will outlast most other outdoor furniture materials with minimal care.

Does teak need oiling?

Oiling is optional. Teak weathers naturally to a beautiful silver-grey patina if left untreated. Applying teak oil once a year will maintain the original warm honey-brown tone if preferred.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Contact us at sales@oakandoutdoor.co.uk within 48 hours with your order number and photographs. We will liaise with Aura Alcove Design and arrange a resolution promptly.

Is this product suitable for leaving outside all year round?

This depends on the material. Solid acacia and teak hardwood products are naturally moisture-resistant and designed for permanent outdoor use in the British climate — a breathable cover during winter is recommended but not essential. Bamboo and pinewood products also perform well outdoors but benefit more from seasonal covering or storage. Poly rattan products are UV-resistant and fully weatherproof year-round. Care & Maintenance

Teak is one of the most naturally durable hardwoods available — rich in natural oils that make it highly resistant to moisture, warping, and decay.

Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush once or twice a year. Apply teak oil annually to maintain the warm honey tone. If left untreated, teak will weather to an attractive silver-grey patina — this is natural and does not affect durability.

A breathable furniture cover during winter is recommended.
