Details

The Coin Rug uses a cream-toned geometric pattern with the deepest pile in our rug range at 8mm — noticeably more cushioned underfoot than a standard outdoor flatweave, while still being weatherproof. At 1800 gr/m² it is dense and hard-wearing, built for spots that see real foot traffic.

This is an indoor-outdoor crossover rug rather than a dedicated garden rug — it handles outdoor use well but is designed to work equally indoors. Note that the cream tone shows garden debris more readily than a darker rug. For rugs built purely for permanent outdoor use, see the Ecology, Nature and Urban ranges in our outdoor rugs collection.

Pair it with a garden dining set or lounge set to anchor your outdoor space.

FAQs

Is this a garden rug or an indoor rug?

Both — it is an indoor-outdoor crossover rug with a deep 8mm pile, more cushioned underfoot than a standard outdoor flatweave. It is weatherproof and copes well on a patio, but it is designed to work equally indoors, so it does not need to live outside permanently.

What makes this different from the flatweave rugs?

At 8mm it has the deepest pile of any rug we stock, so it feels soft and plush rather than flat. The trade-off is that it holds more grit and takes longer to dry, so it suits a covered or sheltered spot better than an exposed one.

Does the pale colour show dirt?

Cream shows soil and leaf tannin more readily than a darker tone, so deal with marks and leaf fall promptly, particularly if you use it outdoors.

Can I use it with underfloor heating?

Yes, the backing is suitable for underfloor heating, so it works over a heated indoor floor as well as on a patio.

How do I clean it?

Vacuum or brush through regularly, since a deeper pile holds more grit. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, or hose it down for a deeper clean. The 8mm pile holds more water, so dry it fully before laying it back down. No bleach, no pressure washers, no machine washing.

Care & Maintenance

This is an indoor-outdoor polypropylene rug with a deep 8mm pile — more cushioned underfoot than a standard outdoor flatweave. It is weatherproof and copes well outdoors, but it is designed to work equally indoors — so it does not need to live outside permanently the way a dedicated garden rug does.

Routine cleaning

Wipe clean with a damp cloth for everyday marks. For a deeper clean, or after outdoor use, hose it down and let it drain, or use a soft brush with warm water and mild washing-up liquid. Rinse thoroughly so no soap residue is left behind. A deeper pile holds more grit, so vacuum or brush it through regularly.

Drying

The 8mm pile holds more water than a thin flatweave and takes longer to dry through. Lay flat or hang over a rail until completely dry before putting it back down. Never roll or store it damp.

What to avoid

No bleach, no solvent cleaners, no pressure washers at close range. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

A note on the pale colour

Cream shows soil and leaf tannin more readily than a darker tone, so deal with marks and leaf fall promptly, particularly if you use it outdoors.

Underfloor heating

The backing is suitable for underfloor heating, so it works over a heated indoor floor as well as on a patio.

Outdoor use

If you use it outdoors, the same rules as any outdoor rug apply: lift it periodically to let the surface underneath dry, clear leaves promptly in autumn, and bring it in or store it dry over winter to extend its life. The colours resist fading but are not UV proof in prolonged direct sun.
