FAQS

Who are Arbor Garden Solutions?

Arbor Garden Solutions are a UK garden furniture maker specialising in handcrafted, heavy-duty timber picnic tables and outdoor structures — built from pressure-treated timber for lasting British outdoor use.

How does this differ from the picnic tables?

A compact table and chairs rather than a bench set — the more conventional, seated dining format, easier for older guests or anyone who prefers a chair with a back over a bench.

Does it take a parasol?

An optional parasol hole is available. Compare all dining and picnic options in our picnic tables collection.

Further Information

Does this product come with a guarantee?

All Arbor Garden products come with a 15 year anti-rot guarantee.

Is this product suitable for leaving outside all year round?

Yes — all Arbor Garden Solutions products are made from FSC-certified pressure-treated timber, engineered to withstand the British climate year-round. The pressure treatment process forces preservatives deep into the wood fibres, protecting against rot, moisture, and insect damage without the need for seasonal storage. A breathable cover during winter is beneficial but not essential.

What wood is used and where does it come from?

Arbor Garden Solutions use FSC-approved, sustainably sourced timber across their entire range — meaning the wood comes from responsibly managed forests where trees are replanted and ecosystems are protected.

Does this product come assembled or flat-packed?

Flat-packed, with full assembly instructions and all fixings included. Most customers complete assembly in 30–60 minutes. Step-by-step video guides are available on the Arbor Garden Solutions YouTube channel. If you would prefer professional assembly, this can be added at checkout for a fixed fee.

Care & Maintenance

This product is made from FSC-certified pressure-treated softwood — timber that has been treated under pressure with preservatives that penetrate deep into the wood fibres, not just coated on the surface. That process is what gives it genuine resistance to rot, moisture, and insect damage in the British climate, and it is why products like this can carry meaningful guarantees.

What to expect as it weathers

Left outdoors, pressure-treated softwood will gradually develop a natural silver-grey patina. This is not deterioration — it is the timber doing exactly what well-treated wood does in the British outdoors. Many owners come to prefer it. If you want to maintain the original warm tone, an annual application of exterior wood stain will keep it looking as it did when it arrived.

Your annual spring routine

Once a year — ideally March or April before the furniture sees heavy use — give it a thorough clean with warm soapy water and a stiff brush, working in the direction of the grain. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry completely for at least 24 hours before applying any treatment. Apply a quality water-based exterior wood stain or timber preservative on a dry day with no rain forecast for 24 hours.

Through the season

Wipe down after heavy use or sustained wet periods. Check and tighten any fixings that have worked loose — a two-minute job that prevents larger problems. Avoid using a pressure washer directly on the surface at close range as this can damage the treatment and lift the grain.

Autumn

Repeat the spring clean before the coldest months arrive. Apply a final coat of stain if needed. If you use a cover, choose a breathable one — airtight plastic wrapping traps moisture and creates exactly the conditions you are trying to prevent.
