FAQS

Who are Arbor Garden Solutions?

Arbor Garden Solutions are a UK garden furniture maker specialising in handcrafted, heavy-duty timber picnic tables and outdoor structures — built from pressure-treated timber for lasting British outdoor use.

What is the shelf useful for?

An overhead shelf gives you a separate storage tier above the log bays — useful for kindling, axes, gloves, and firelighters, keeping everything for a fire in one place rather than scattered around the garden.

How does the log store keep firewood dry?

A sloped roof directs rain runoff away from the logs, and the raised base plus slatted sides encourage airflow — so logs season faster and stay drier.

What are the internal dimensions?

Two internal heights available. 4FT: 316cm W x 87cm H x 54.5cm D — 1.5m³ capacity. 6FT: 316cm W x 140cm H x 54.5cm D — 2.4m³ capacity. See other sizes in our wooden storage collection.

Further Information

Does this product come with a guarantee?

All Arbor Garden products come with a 15 year anti-rot guarantee.

Is this product suitable for leaving outside all year round?

Yes — all Arbor Garden Solutions products are made from FSC-certified pressure-treated timber, engineered to withstand the British climate year-round. The pressure treatment process forces preservatives deep into the wood fibres, protecting against rot, moisture, and insect damage without the need for seasonal storage. A breathable cover during winter is beneficial but not essential.

What wood is used and where does it come from?

Arbor Garden Solutions use FSC-approved, sustainably sourced timber across their entire range — meaning the wood comes from responsibly managed forests where trees are replanted and ecosystems are protected.

Does this product come assembled or flat-packed?

Flat-packed, with full assembly instructions and all fixings included. Most customers complete assembly in 30–60 minutes. Step-by-step video guides are available on the Arbor Garden Solutions YouTube channel. If you would prefer professional assembly, this can be added at checkout for a fixed fee.

Care & Maintenance

This storage unit is made from FSC-certified pressure-treated softwood — timber that has been treated under pressure with preservatives that penetrate deep into the wood fibres, not just coated on the surface. That process is what gives it genuine resistance to rot, moisture, and insect damage in the British climate.

What to expect as it weathers

Left outdoors, pressure-treated softwood will gradually develop a natural silver-grey patina. This is not deterioration — it is the timber doing exactly what well-treated wood does in the British outdoors. If you want to maintain the original tone, an annual application of exterior wood stain will keep it looking as it did when it arrived.

Siting and airflow

Position the unit on a level, free-draining base — paving slabs, gravel, or decking rather than directly on soil or grass. Standing water at the base is the single most common cause of premature timber decay. Leave a small gap behind the unit if it sits against a wall or fence so air can circulate.

Your annual spring routine

Once a year — ideally March or April — give it a thorough clean with warm soapy water and a stiff brush, working in the direction of the grain. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry completely for at least 24 hours before applying any treatment. Apply a quality water-based exterior wood stain or timber preservative on a dry day with no rain forecast for 24 hours, paying particular attention to the roof and any end grain.

Through the season

Clear leaves and debris from the roof so water runs off freely rather than pooling. Check and tighten any fixings, hinges, and catches that have worked loose. Avoid using a pressure washer at close range as this can damage the treatment and lift the grain.

Autumn

Repeat the spring clean before the coldest months arrive and apply a final coat of stain if needed. Make sure tools stored inside are dry before shutting up for winter — damp tools in a closed unit raise the internal humidity.
